Visa and Mesh Join Forces to Enable Direct Crypto Payments Worldwide

Cointelegraph · Nate Kostar

Visa has partnered with the crypto payment network Mesh to enable consumers to spend cryptocurrencies and stablecoins directly from their digital wallets at merchants connected to Visa’s global payment infrastructure.

This collaboration allows users of supported wallets to make purchases in-store or online without needing to move funds into a bank account or acquire a dedicated crypto card, as announced by Mesh on Monday. Merchants will receive payments via Visa’s existing systems without any modifications required on their part.

Visa’s network reaches over 175 million merchants across more than 200 countries and territories. Mesh stated that details regarding participating wallets, compatible devices, and launch timelines will be shared as deployment strategies are finalized.

Mesh is responsible for facilitating transaction funding and converting between cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and fiat currencies. Visa payment credentials will be integrated within the participating wallet applications. Additionally, Mesh will oversee customer onboarding and comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.

This partnership comes after Mesh’s integration with Bybit Pay in September, which enabled users to spend directly from their exchange balances on supported platforms. Earlier in January, Mesh secured $75 million in a funding round led by Dragonfly, valuing the company at $1 billion.

By enabling seamless crypto payments via an extensive merchant network, this partnership significantly advances the everyday usability of digital currencies in commerce.

Why it matters

The integration of Visa and Mesh offers a streamlined solution for crypto holders to spend digital assets seamlessly at a vast number of global merchants, reinforcing the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency payments.
