LTH Net Position Change

The net 30-day change in long-held Bitcoin supply. A positive value means the older cohort is growing; a negative value means its coins are reactivating.

WHAT IT MEASURES

The direction of older supply

This metric asks whether supply in older coin-age cohorts is currently expanding or contracting, rather than only showing the total amount.

HOW IT IS CALCULATED

A 30-day difference

LTH Supply today − LTH Supply 30 days ago

The free source uses the available 6M+ series as a proxy for long-held supply.

HOW TO INTERPRET

Zero separates accumulation and distribution

  • > 0 BTCNet accumulation: more coins enter the older cohort than leave it.
  • < 0 BTCNet distribution or reactivation: older coins leave the age band.
  • ≈ 0 BTCA balance between coin aging and spending.
HOW TO USE IT

Assess magnitude and persistence

A single negative day is weaker than a sustained contraction. Rising CDD, LTH-SOPR and exchange inflows can strengthen the signal.

LIMITATION

Direction does not reveal destination

A negative reading may include internal transfers, custody reorganizations and wallet maintenance, not only market sales.
